Murali Vijay Announces Retirement

Murali Vijay, a cricketer has announced his retirement from international cricket. Today, the veteran opener batsman announced retirement. He is from Chennai and is thirty-eight years old. He last represented India against the Australian Team at the Perth Test in the year 2018.


If we talk about his career, he has played almost sixty-one test matches. He has also played around seventeen ODIs which means one-day internationals (fifty-over format games). He has also represented India in the nine twenty-twenty matches.


He made his debut in international cricket at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, in the month of November 2008. He is a right-handed batsman. In 2019, he was also featured as the first-class cricketer from Tamil Nadu.

 

He has smashed almost around 3982 runs in the longest format of cricket for India, which include around twelve centuries and fifty half-centuries. In one-day cricket format, this opening batsman also has a record to make 339 runs which also includes a fifty in it.


Murali Vijay gave this retirement news from international cricket on his social media handle. He also wrote that he will now move forward to seek new opportunities in the sport of cricket and will be seeking more business sides from it.


Vijay wrote in his post, “Today, with utmost thanks to all and humility, I thus declare my retirement from the international format of cricket. Since I had the privilege to represent my country India at the greatest levels, my journey from the year 2002 till the year 2018 has been the happiest days of my life.”


He also gave the statement that “he will be very grateful to BCCI, who gave him many opportunities, and said thanks to TNCA (Tamil Nadu Cricket Association), Chemplast Sanmar, and Chennai Super Kings (IPL Team).

He gave special thanks to his teammates, and coaches who guided him at every level, his mentors, and all his supporters and staff members. He said that he was very lucky to have supporters like these and said thanks to all for building his dream into a reality. 

 

He gave a special message to his fans saying, “He will always cherish the moments spent with all his fans and said you were the source of motivation. You have supported me in all the ups and downs during my career and thanks for all your love.”


Lastly, he mentioned his family and said, “My family is my backbone. My family has given me a lot of unconditional love and support throughout my whole career. Without my family, I would never have been there, where I’m today.”

 

He said that he will continue to explore new things and will face new challenges in new surroundings. As a cricketer, he knows that this is a new and exciting chapter of his life. He gave best wishes to all his teammates and the Indian cricket team for the further coming tournaments.

 

He thanked all his teammates and all his supporters for the memories he built throughout his career.
