Not a setback for brand IPL believes Ness Wadia

In what came as an event without precedence, matches had to be canceled midway through an edition of the Indian Premier League because of the rapidly increasing positive Covid-19 cases within the bio-bubble.

With previous editions having crossed numerous hurdles before, there is a school of thought that the ignominy of the cancellations will dim the value of the IPL.

However, Ness Wadia, who has been associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) from the first season and as a founding member of the league, has seen the tournament go through many ups and downs over the years, believes otherwise.

“This is the No 1 tournament in the world. Not just in terms of value, but also for its adaptability. It is the league that is the most flexible, adaptable, and adjustable. Whether the move to South Africa in 2009, to UAE in 2014 and 2020, and whether it being held in India the in most grueling of Covid situations and circumstances, it always emerged strong. There won't be any impact on the league in the future. The decision to suspend is right and I am sure they will hold it again,” Wadia told Cricbuzz.
