Opportunity to bounce back for KKR, Krishna may be rested

The Kolkata Knight Riders began the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season on a resounding note, winning the opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 wickets. But ever since that resounding start the two-time League champion’s performance has gone down in a manner that the team has conceded three consecutive defeats. The batting of KKR earned a lot of criticism after they showed the inability to finish the game against the Mumbai Indians. Even after the defeat KKR batting also failed to bounce back twice, against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Now, before they take on Rajasthan Royals on 24th April on Saturday, the time has come for soul searching.

Against CSK, after the collapse of KKR's top order an inspiring effort from the middle and lower order lifted them to reduce the margin of defeat to 18 runs. The combined efforts from Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik, and Pat Cummins had shown the batting depth of KKR on paper at least. But the middle-order needs more support from the top order, which has lacked in the last three outings. It is learnt that Prasidh Krishna will be replaced by Harbhajan Singh or Kuldeep Yadav against RR.
