Shreyas Iyer strikes maiden ton, joins Ganguly, Sehwag

Shreyas Iyer on Friday has become the 16th Indian batter to have scored a century on Test debut. Iyer was presented his maiden Test cap by legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar on the first day of the Kanpur Test. Shreyas started in style, finishing at unbeaten 75. On the second day on Saturday early morning, Iyer scored 25 runs more and joined the elite list of Indian batters such Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Prithvi Shaw. Shreyas had made his debut for India in 2017 but struggled to establish his place in the Playing XI. The batter has scored 175 runs from eight matches in the IPL and returned to mainstream cricket.
