Young Gunners Football is being led by Captain Odegaard

In Martin Odegaard's football career, January has been a crucial month. It was the time of the year he signed for Real Madrid at the age of 15, and it was this time of the year he was loaned to Arsenal in 2021 for the fourth time since 2015.

After Tuesday's acrimonious 0-0 stalemate against a tough Newcastle team that is third in the league, Odegaard, 24, is heading a young, lively Arsenal team that is eight points clear at the top of the Premier League with 12 goal involvements, one more than last season.

For the north Londoners, it was their first home loss. Additionally, this is only the second time in 11 games that they failed to win and the first time this term that they failed to score in every competition. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta blasted the officials for failing to award two "scandalous penalties," saying he was "proud of this team.

Odegaard, who according to Opta's pregame statistics was also the player most frequently involved in Arsenal's attacking phases, had the opportunity to change that, but he missed his target early. Odegaard had 32 shots before Newcastle, contributed to 25 chances that were generated, and participated in 28 build-ups to shots.

He arrived in London, which was not his current residence at the time. The Norwegian child prodigy, for whom Real paid 2.3 million pounds, seemed to be replicating the paths of players such as Freddy Adu, Adnan Januzaj, Javier Portillo, Alipio Duarte, and Nii Lamptey in his mission to realize the potential he showed early on.

Odegaard was given his initial starting role 676 days after signing up with the La Liga title-holders. He performed so well for Stromsgodset that, at the age of eleven, he was playing with more experienced players; this caused major clubs from around the world to take notice and travel to the small Norwegian city of Drammen. In the end, Real Madrid emerged victorious in their bid for his services. It occurred in the Spanish King's Cup. After spending 81 minutes on the field for Real Madrid during December and January, he was loaned out to London.

Prior to August 2021, Odegaard had played for Heerenveen, Vitesse and Real Sociedad when Arsenal secured a long-term deal with him by signing the player on loan for five years in exchange for 30 million pounds. At these clubs, the player in the attacking midfield role showed off his abilities.

Before his return to Madrid, Odegaard was widely considered one of the top players in La Liga. He scored a goal against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey. This happened prior to the 2020 ruling of Covid-19 that brought football to a close. Nevertheless, he was sitting on the Real bench again when it was time for Real.
