PBKS V/S KKR (Match 21) Pre-Match Analysis (Today’s Match Prediction) VIVO IPL 2021: Captain, Vice-captain, Fantasy gaming Tips, Probable Playing XIs for Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight riders T20 Match at Narendra Modi Stadium, 7:30 PM IST Sunday April 26th  2021

Head-to-Head

It is so hard to believe that we have already witnessed 20 IPL matches so far! A quarter of the league is over, and it feels as if we started yesterday! Now, we move on to a new venue! Get ready to see some big hits around the ground because we now move on to the biggest stadium in the World, the Narendra Modi stadium! The venue will host its first IPL match and the occasion cannot get bigger than this! The first two teams to play an IPL match here will be the Punjab Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 21. After 4 back-to-back losses, the 2-time champions have hit the rock bottom on the points table. Their last defeat against the Royals was such a disappointing effort from their batting side, that words fall short to even describe it. Their bowling unit is still doing a pretty decent job, but if only they had the same kind of batting to support them, they could have been in a much better situation than this. There is no doubt about the fact they have a lot of talent in their squad, but the big problem right now is that somehow it is not coming off well at all. Going into this match they will be conscious because even if Punjab Kings is going through a lean patch right now, they still beat the defending champions in the last match.

In Punjab’s last outing, KL Rahul led from the front and made sure that his team stayed float after which it was followed up with some disciplined win which eventually resulted in their victory.  As of now, the playing conditions at the Narendra Modi Stadium are unknow to the teams but it is going to be a really good contest regardless.

Pitch Conditions

The playing condition in Ahmedabad is still unknown to IPL franchises but recently, when India and England met at the venue for a T20 series, it turned out to be a venue where chasing looked like a good choice. However India managed to defend well here. So, the call after the toss must be taken after considering the dew factor and how the pitch looks at that point of time.

Batting:

PBKS:

Their batting order without a doubt looks like the most power packed if you compare them to other  teams. They have the Universe Boss Chris Gayle; they have the best T20 batsman Dawid Malan, they have their captain KL Rahul and youngsters like Mandeep Singh and Mayank Agarwal. In the middle they have players like Sarfaraz and Shahrukh while in the tail end they have someone like Moises Henriques who can smash a few out of the park when the need be. All in all they look like a batting side to play against. The first match will give them a good idea of which attack to go with.

KKR:

Their batting order definitely holds a lot of talent starting with Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi. All three are talented batsmen at the top, then there is Captain Eoin Morgan in the middle with Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russel to finish things off in style. Sunil Narine also adds some power packed hitting at the start of the match if they bring him in. The only point is that the whole batting order is collapsing surprisingly early in every match and it has become a huge headache for the Knight Riders.

Bowling

PBKS:

This year they have made some serious changes to their bowling department after their failure to live up to expectations last year. They have the likes of Chris Jordan, Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith and of course India pacer, Mohammed Shami. They will have three good spin options in Ravi Bishnoi, Murugan Ashwin and Saurabh Kumar. Their bowling was a serious area of concern last year and this year they will be looking to turn it around.

KKR:

One thing that every cricket expert can agree with is that KKR's forte is certainly their bowling, especially the spin bowling attack. This year, they have also included Harbhajan Singh to Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav and Shakib. Pat Cummins will lead their bowling and Russell mixes the deliveries well. Which means they do not have to heavily rely on just one bowler and there will be space for everyone to come out and rise to the occasion.

Match Prediction:

The Narendra Modi stadium is a good pitch for the batsmen; the batsmen may have a good day at this ground as the ball is comes on to the bat really well. From what we have witnessed in the international matches, it is noticeably clear that it will take a strong bowling line-up to get the other team out before they cross 150. PBKS has a wide range of pace bowlers and may have an upper hand here over KKR who have struggled to play against fast bowlers in the past here.
