Dhawan’s brilliant 92 steers Delhi to six-wicket victory
Delhi Capitals won the 11th match of the ongoing IPL on Sunday in Mumbai. They defeated Punjab Kings by six wickets with 10 balls remaining. In reply to Punjab Kings’ 195 for the loss of 4 wickets, Delhi scored 198 for the loss of 4 wickets in 18.2 overs.
The experienced campaigner Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian international played a superb 92 off 49 deliveries hitting 13 fours and 2 huge sixes with a brilliant strike rate of 187.75 which actually guided Delhi to the victory. Prithvi Shaw also had an impressive outing with a 17-ball 32 that helped Delhi to get the boost right from the beginning. Jhye Richardson managed 2 wickets for Punjab at the cost of 41 runs in 4 overs.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and asked Punjab Kings to bat first. It was K.L. Rahul and Mayank Agarwal all the way who gave Punjab a solid start. Their first wicket fell at 13th over when the score was 122 for no loss. Rahul scored 61 off 51 deliveries hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes while Mayank Agarwal struck a rapid 36-ball 69 hitting 7 fours and 4 sixes. Gayle however did not look in his form as he got out for 11 only playing 9 deliveries. Deepak Hooda, in the poer-play session dished out a 13-ball 22 but that did not help Punjab outfit to cross 200-mark. The team innings ended at 195in 20 overs losing 4 wickets.
