Khaleel Ahmed, Bairstow guide Hyderabad to the first win in the IPL 

Sunrisers Hyderabad finally opened their account in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), registering a 9-wicket victory against depleted Punjab Kings in Chennai on Wednesday. In reply to Punjab's 120 all-out in 19.4 overs, Hyderabad scored 121 losing only one wicket in 18.4 overs to earn the full two points.

Even though David Warner gave Hyderabad a solid start scoring 37 off 37 deliveries with 3 fours and 1 six, Jonny Bairstow was the man who anchored Hyderabad's innings to an easy victory, scoring a superb unbeaten 63 off 56 deliveries, hitting 3 fours, and 3 sixes. Kane Williamson, coming into the playing eleven after having recovered from an elbow niggle, remained unbeaten 16. 

Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to gat first. The team has made three changes from their last match, bringing in Moises Henriques and Fabian Allen in place of Australian pace-duo of Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith and M. Ashwin has got into the team replacing Jalaj Saxena. 

Similarly, Sunrisers Hyderabad has been bolstered by the inclusion of Kane Williamson who is cured of elbow niggle. At the same time, Kedar Yadav and Siddharth Kaul have found a place in the playing eleven replacing Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad who are already out due to hamstring injury. 

However, thanks to Hyderabad bowlers whose accurate bowling restricted Punjab Kings to get all-out for 120 in 19.4 overs, making the lowest total in Chennai in IPL. Mayank Agarwal and newcomer Sharukh Khan turned out the top scorer with 22 runs each, scored off 25 and 17 deliveries, respectively. 

The first session of the match consisted mainly of the Hyderabad bowlers especially Khaleel Ahmed who had an excellent bowling figure of 3 for 21 in 4 overs at an economy rate of 5.25. Abhishek Sharma also bagged 2 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs while Bhuvneshwar Kumar got one for 16 runs in 3 overs.
