PBKS vs MI Match Prediction IPL 2021, Who Will Win?

PBKS V/S MI (Match 17) Pre-Match Analysis (Today’s Match Prediction) VIVO IPL 2021: Captain, Vice-captain, Fantasy gaming Tips, Probable Playing XIs for Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians T20 Match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, 7:30 PM IST Friday April 23rd  2021

Head- to-Head

What a week we are having! Now we move on to the MA Chidambaram Stadium for a cracking contest of Cricket between the Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians where troubled Punjab will face the mighty men in blue! So, far Punjab has had a forgettable outing and their one match win is slowly fading away from the minds of their fans. The Kings have tried everything from changing their old self, changing their name, bringing in some big names in their side and also brought a new bowling coach to straighten things up. Somehow, they are clueless about what they actually need right now in order to start winning.

The Kings will need to start picking up points on the board before it is too late, but up against them for this match will be the most successful team of this competition – Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, although the Mumbai Indians lost their last game, they have played some good cricket here and there and have managed to secure two wins in four games. Their batting has shown some promise and their bowling is showing some good colors as we progress ahead in the tournament. Hopefully, they will start clicking the right tabs soon!

Punjab will be desperately looking for a win here tonight and will be hoping that Mumbai makes some blunders here tonight at the Chepauk. Punjab has the bowling talent to take them on but its not clicking at the moment. All in all this will be a good one to watch!

Pitch Conditions

The match is going to take place at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium and as we all know it’s a dream come true for bowlers, especially spin bowlers. The ball will turn here and will trouble the batsmen under the lights with the dew coming in during the late overs. Anything above 150 will be a competitive score here and both teams will be looking to capitalize on their respective bowling units.

Batting

PBKS:

Their batting order without a doubt looks like the most power packed if you compare them to other  teams. They have the Universe Boss Chris Gayle; they have the best T20 batsman Dawid Malan, they have their captain KL Rahul and youngsters like Mandeep Singh and Mayank Agarwal. In the middle they have players like Sarfaraz and Shahrukh while in the tail end they have someone like Moises Henriques who can smash a few out of the park when the need be. All in all they look like a batting side to play against. The first match will give them a good idea of which attack to go with.

MI:

Defending champions Mumbai will be relying heavily on their top order tonight and skipper Rohit sharma will have to fire with his bat along with partner Quinton De Kock. Although the Mumbai Captain is looking in a sublime touch and is capable of taking the match away, the latter has failed to fire in the past and will have to find his feet soon. Suryakumar Yadav is looking strong in the middle while Ishan Kishan hasn’t found his touch and will be hoping to open up his bat. Then, there are Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard. This makes them a solid batting side.

Bowling

PBKS:

This year they have made some serious changes to their bowling department after their failure to live up to expectations last year. They have the likes of Chris Jordan, Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith and of course India pacer, Mohammed Shami. They will have three good spin options in Ravi Bishnoi, Murugan Ashwin and Saurabh Kumar. Their bowling was a serious area of concern last year and this year they will be looking to turn it around. Arshdeep Singh is showing some real promise here and could be the trump card against a big batting attack tonight.

MI:

Their bowling department is looking strong enough to take on the Punjab Kings. Jasprit Bumrah has always displayed why he is the best bowler in the world as he has been maintaining a low economy throughout and will be their go-to bowler in the death overs, there is no doubt about that. He’ll be accompanied by Trent boult and Rahul Chahar who could make a huge impact this season.  They have Piyush Chawla in the spin department and also Adam Milne to provide ample support. It will be interesting to see how they pick their mix of bowlers on this slow pitch.

Match Prediction:

The MA Chidambaram stadium is very much supportive for the bowlers; the bowlers are having a gala at this ground as the ball is moving away from the bat. From what we have witnessed in the last matches, it is noticeably clear that it will take an extraordinarily strong bowling line-up to get the other team out before they cross 150. MI has a wide range of spin bowlers and may have an upper hand here over PBKS who have struggled to play against slow bowlers in the past here.
